| Art prizes Nationale Suisse 2010 This year’s art prize from the National Swiss Insurance Company has been awarded to the artist Elisa Larvego (1984). Elisa Larvego studied photography at Ecole d'Arts Appliqués in Vevey and subsequently completed her studies at Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design in Geneva. Larvego photographs real and staged urban spaces and landscapes. The motifs of her photographic series evolved in her home city of Geneva and during trips to Mexico and Siberia. Her photographic works all share a quality that is at once both visual and narrative. The jury praised the esthetic finesse of her photographic view, which is also manifested in an impressive way in her first video work prize winners: 2009: Florian Germann, Zürcher Hochschule der Künste 2008: Nicole Bachmann, Zürcher Hochschule der Künste 2007: Luc Mattenberger, Haute école d'art et de design Genève 2006: Aloïs Godinat, Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne 2005: Swann Thommen (collectif-fact), Haute école d'art et de design Genève 2004: Kathrin Stengele, Hochschule der Künste Bern For further information: www.nationalesuisse.ch redtoo Art Prize Art Prize Winner 2010: Altman Siegel, San Francisco Statement of the Jury The jury was impressed by the presentation of the gallery Altman Siegel (San Francisco/USA), with its contentually exact and formally congruent stand presentation. Through the intelligent combination of works by artists Shannon Ebner, Will Rogan and Sara Van Der Beek, the gallery demonstrated most impressively how precisely a carefully prepared exhibit can be elaborated, even under the limited spatial specifications of a fair. The thoughtful and restrained presentation of the works tells a subtle story about the arts and artist and the conditions of their production. In this context, the individual works of the three artists experience a mutually enhanced meaning. Altman Siegel has an impressive gallery concept which is characterized by a genuine understanding of its artists and their works. Moreover, the jury was impressed by the combination of highly promising artists working in various media. The redtoo Art Prize For the first time at LISTE, The Young Art Fair in Basel, the newly created “redtoo Art Prize” is being awarded to the most outstanding newcomer gallery of the year. The prize is open to those galleries appearing at LISTE for the first time. An international jury evaluates each new gallery’s booth presentation as well as its overall concept. The “redtoo Art Prize” consists of two components: Firstly, redtoo ag will assume the booth costs of the winning gallery; secondly, the firm will purchase a work of art by one of the artists represented by the gallery which will then be displayed at one of the firm’s locations in Reinach, Basel or Berne. By purchasing a work of art, redtoo is laying the foundation for its own art collection. For over 20 years, redtoo has been the leading provider of IT services. During that time, the company has developed an important market position and has established itself as one of the leading IT firms in the greater Basel area.
