Nationale Suisse 2012 winner: Kathrin Affentranger, Hochschule der Künste Bern
Kathrin Affentranger (24), graduate of the Hochschule der Künste Bern, is the winner of the Nationale Suisse art prize 2012. The jury of experts was impressed by the strong physical presence of her fragile wood sculptures and with her playful take on the formalist tradition. Being awarded for the 9th time, the prize is intended for graduates of Suisse art academies who have majored in «visual arts and media art». The prize includes a monetary award of 15,000 Suisse francs and an exhibition at LISTE - The Young Art Fair in Basel. For the first time, the jury selected the winner from among the artists participating in Plattform 12 in Zurich.
