For LISTE 2026, the booth centers on Toru Otani’s sandpaper paintings, accompanied by paper‑based works by Shiho Saito. Both artists test how far drawing and painting can go on inhospitable or fragile supports, reworking sandpaper, packaging and fine paper into sites where everyday graphic noise is sifted, repeated and held in suspension.
Shiho Saito (b. 1988, Tokyo) creates paper‑based paintings grounded in printmaking, using acrylic, silkscreen and watercolor to explore subtle shifts of color and perception. Recent exhibitions include “Pictura super Pavimentum” at TOGA AOYAMA with 18, Murata (2025) and “Pic of Pain” at 18, Murata, Tokyo.
Toru Otani (b. 1988, Kanagawa) lives in Tokyo and works with found materials such as cigarette wrappers, sandpaper, postcards and leaflets. Using colored pencil over printed matter, he develops rebus‑like compositions. His most recent solo exhibition is “Hypnosis” at XYZ collective, Tokyo.
