Bronson Smillie’s presentation at Liste 2026 charts the intersection of drawing and sculpture, working with material culture that, once ubiquitous, have become obsolete in the pursuit of digital efficiency. Composing works by visual systems of logic and mark-making, Smillie generates a delicate intervention that highlights a shared material past while undermining function-based hierarchies. The result is a playful reverence for an object’s aura and for passing time’s imprint on things as cultural relevance and usefulness diminishes.

Bronson Smillie (b. 1992) is a Montréal-based artist with a BFA from Concordia University (2020). Working with analog castaways, Smillie formulates visual systems of logic and mark-making to release an object from its defunct state. Smillie has presented recent exhibitions at Pangée, april april, Silke Lindner, and Europa and is represented by Pangée.
