Coco Klockner’s practice explores self-presentation and materiality under conditions of constant visibility, often grounded in transfeminine experience. Approaching sculpture “as though in transition,” her work calibrates intimacy with clinical distance, doubling personal references as mechanisms of categorization and control. Burned cartoon figures in industrial carpet and cast silver nameplates double as sweetness and surveillance, turning surface appearances and shifting legibility into forms of protection and agency.
Coco Klockner (b. 1991) is and artist and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. Recent solo shows have been held at SculptureCenter, NY; lower_cavity, MA; Silke Lindner, NY; and Bad Water, TN. Her work is included in MoMA PS1's Greater New York (2026). Her practice explores self-presentation and materiality under conditions of constant visibility, often grounded in transfeminine experience.
