Miriam Kongstad, A Balancing Act (calibration), 2026, Photo by David Stjernholm, Courtesy of the Artist and Wilson Saplana Gallery
Working with wood, metal, rubber, and organic elements, Miriam Kongstad approaches the body as a permeable system shaped by forces both internal and external. Drawing on perspectives from science, philosophy and non-Western medicine, she explores the body as a site of transformation, driven by fragility and strength. In works that both attract and unsettle, Kongstad evokes the sensory experience of inhabiting a body where pleasure and pain coexist and balance is continually negotiated.
Miriam Kongstad (DK, b. 1991), trained as a choreographer at HZT Berlin and MFA graduate from the Sandberg Institute, works across image, installation, performance, and sculpture. She has exhibited internationally and her work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Denmark, the Danish Arts Foundation, and ARKEN Museum of Modern Art.
