2026: Programm

Special Collaborations
Foyer Programme +

This year, Liste’s public programme launches an intervention space in its foyer, which is curated in collaboration with Daisy Chain – Basel’s new project space run by Gina Folly and Sven Gex. Daily events activate the entrance, including concerts, performances, readings, and installations. With works by artists and collectives from Ethan Assouline, Solomon Garçon, Marie Karlberg, Mitsubishi Suicide hosted by Cavalli, Pure Fiction, and Mia Sanchez, among others.

Within the foyer, Liste also presents a film programme, brought together by Paris-based curator and writer Juliette Desorgues. This programme comprises artists’ moving-image works selected from proposals submitted by participating galleries. Spanning a range of genres and narrative registers, the works inhabit the precarious threshold between fiction, fantasy and reality, unsettling dominant constructions of the real while envisioning alternative worlds into being. In tracing the porous boundary between the imagined and the lived, the works presented consider what kinds of futures, fears, desires, and forms of freedom emerge when reality itself begins to feel unstable.

The public programme is free of charge and open to everyone.

Spine Book Forum +

The Spine Book Forum by Berlin-based Distanz Verlag returns to the bookstand at Liste 2026, with a curated selection of books and magazines from 30 international publishers, including BOM DIA BOA TARDE BOA NOITE (Berlin), Reliable Copy (Bangalore), and Kodoji Press (Baden). The forum foregrounds independent publishing within the fair context and reflects many of the artistic practices presented in this edition.

A selection of artists’ editions is presented at Spine Book Forum from HUSCH / objects by artists, including works by Karin Hueber / HUSCH, Edit Oderbolz, and Nienke Terpsma. This year’s Artist T-shirt, designed by Anders Clausen in collaboration with Carhartt WIP, is also available as an edition of 200.

Helvetia Kunstpreis +

The Helvetia Art Prize is a platform dedicated to supporting graduates of Swiss art schools as they enter professional artistic practice, offering prize money and an exhibition at Liste.

This year, a dedicated booth presents the work of prize winner Kelechi Amaka Madumere, whose installations, drawings, and object-based works explore the entanglements of violence, childhood, and social power structures. Drawing frompersonal experience, the artist connects individual narratives with collective realities through layered material constellations that address questions of history, belonging, and structural inequality.

Kelechi Amaka Madumere (*2000) lives and works in Lausanne. She graduated from HEAD Genève and is the recipient of the 2025 Helvetia Art Prize. Recent presentations include exhibitions at Halle Nord, Geneva, and CAN Centre d’art Neuchâtel.

Kemmler Foundation Art Prize +

The Kemmler Foundation Art Prize joins Liste for the first time in 2026. Founded as part of Kemmler Kemmler GmbH, the Kemmler Foundation supports artists, writers, and interdisciplinary creative practices across generations and fields. Since 2020, the foundation has collaborated with established an emerging practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

In respond to recent cuts to cultural funding in Germany, the foundation has shifted the focus of its support towards small and mid-sized institutions as vital elements of cultural infrastructure. At Liste, the Kemmler Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting individual artistic practices through the Kemmler Foundation Art Prize, awarded through the acquisition of a work into the collection.

The performance "Runner-up“ by Sofía Durrieu shows a runner in starting position, holding tension while awaiting a signal that never comes. At intervals, the runner stretches, hydrates, and prepares again, only to return to waiting in a repeated cycle. It explores tension as both vital force and inhibiting fixation. Conceptually, it critiques the narrowness of competitive, individualistic systems within performance-driven paradigms.

Book Launch: Room Tone
Fair Hall Plaza
+

Rosa Aiello and Theresa Roessler present Room Tone, published by DISTANZ Verlag, a reflection on methods of documentary and experimental filmmaking as a relational and collaborative practice. What do filmmaking processes generate beyond stories told through images and sound—social and interpersonal dynamics, out-of-the-ordinariness, a hierarchy of roles, shifting states of observation, performativity, belonging, and resistance? Within the conceptual space of this question, Aiello has invited filmmakers Helin Çelik, Beatrice Gibson, and Ivana Mladenović to respond. An essay by Yaniya Lee contextualizes Aiello's ongoing interest in methodology and collaboration, and discusses her film works from her exhibition A Good Reputation at Westfälischer Kunstverein in Münster (2025/26).

Room Tone is part of KONTEXT, a series by DISTANZ, that brings together artists and writers for an exchange between the worlds of writing and contemporary art.

Mother's Calling or Maathru Yaathikawa
Fair Hall, Niru Ratnam, Booth 7

Chathuri Nissansala creates a new live work extending their ongoing research into ritual, inheritance, and the unstable figure of the “mother” as both intimate and political body. Drawing on southern Sri Lankan ritual traditions, the performance activates gesture, voice, and collective as embodied knowledge. The work forms a provisional ritual environment in which domestic elements become charged sites of address. Through repetition, it oscillates between mourning and collective calling. The maternal emerges as a shifting role, where authority, care, and violence remain entangled within shared memory and presence.

Monologues on a Treadmill deals with the present and future dystopian topics.
In the first monologue, we meet a rich boy who just lost a million on a scam, being upset he realizes that it doesn’t matter too much as we are more and more part of an unequal society where his dad is lucky enough to be part of the 1% and has many more millions to spare. The second one is a mix between Molière’s ”Tartuffe” and an investor who becomes extremely rich having wealthy people put their money into dubious fonds to avoid paying taxes. Last person is ”an artist” that you see on instagram short videos where he talks about his practice.

What becomes visible when you shift your perspective from looking at artworks to observing the systems that frame them? ‘LOOKING FOR?’ invites you to become an investigator and move through the art fair against the grain. ‘LOOKING FOR?’ asks questions in the form of a list of lists, made for Liste. What power structures are embedded in this space? Whose work is present but never seen? What will remain afterwards? Engage with these questions silently, through dialogue, or by documenting your reflections. Participation is free.

‘LOOKING FOR?’ is also a printed booklet, available upon request at the VIP Desk. Conceived by Hybrid Project Space, this mediation tool grants free entry to the fair and invites visitors to explore its visible and hidden structures through a series of prompts and observations. Pick up your copy at the VIP Desk from Tuesday 16 June to Sunday 21 June.
