Presentation of works by Gizela Mickiewicz will consist of new realisations from series which she has developed over the last two years.
„Mass and mood” is dedicated to relation between sculpture and complex mental states. The artist, using various materials strongly present in human environment (such as steel, concrete, glass, stone) gives a sculptural form to subtle inner sensations. Inner conflict, experience of contradictory feelings, nuances of human relationships are captured and „reduced to a solid body” as Mickiewicz explains.
„Time of entry” is a research based series which consists of sculptural objects made of futuristic materials, such as: aerogel, concrete canvas, metal foam, liquid granite, transparent aluminium, among others. These are materials whose unique properties still do not have a clearly defined use in industry and have only a potential application. Mickiewicz plays with this potentiality, by revealing and questioning it in abstract sculptures.
