Southard Reid is pleased to present new and recent work by Prem Sahib.
Through sculpture, objects, performance and installation, Sahib’s practice explores both formal and autobiographical themes relating to intimacy, sexuality, relationships, desire and community. He is interested in the territories and crossover of public and personal space, his work often evoking a sense of intimate encounter.
Mixing the language of minimalism and abstraction, with the highly identifiable ready and hand-made, Sahib’s work evokes associations with architecture and design of public spaces - bathrooms, clubs, parks, saunas, gyms - as well as those of everyday domestic, particularly bodily, contact and usage.
Informed by contrasting atmospheres of physical encounter, Sahib’s work triggers multiple associations of human touch, gesture and presence.
