Bronwyn Katz (b.1993, Kimberley, South Africa) lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. Incorporating sculpture, installation, video and performance, her practice engages with the concept of land as a repository of memory, reflecting on the notion of place or space as lived experience, and the ability of the land to remember and communicate the memory of its occupation. Katz’s first solo exhibition, ‘Groenpunt’, was held at blank in 2016, and she has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including ‘Not A Single Story’ (Nirox Foundation in collaboration with Wanas Foundation, 2018), ‘Tell Freedom’ (Kunsthal KAdE, 2018), ‘Le jour qui vient’ (Galerie des Galeries, 2017), and the 12th Dak’Art Biennale (Senegal, 2016). Katz is a founding member of iQhiya, an 11-women artist collective which has performed across various spaces, including Documenta (Kassel and Athens) and the Iziko South African National Gallery. She is the 2018 recipient of the SAM Art Projects residency in Paris, which culminates in a presentation of her work at the Palais de Tokyo.

Pedro Wirz (b. 1981 Sao Paulo, Brazil) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. Wirz’s oeuvre is predominantly sculptural or installation-based, and refers to ideas around community, folklore and storytelling that are informed by the histories – both actual and mythical – of the Paraiba Valley region in Brazil where he grew up. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Fabula, Frisson, Melancolia’ (Instituto Tomie Ohtake, Sao Paulo, 2017); ‘Dobrar de Espinho, Anzol’ (Murias Centeno Gallery, Porto, 2017); and ‘The Horse Who Drunk Beer’ (Kai Matsumiya Gallery, New York, 2016). His work has also been presented at the Tinguely Museum (2016), CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art (2015), Kunstlerhaus Stuttgart (2013), Dortmunder Kunstverein (2013), Palais de Tokyo (2013), and Kunsthalle Basel (2011). In 2016 he was the artist in residence at the Swiss Institute Rome, and has recently completed a residency at the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin. Later this year, Wirz’s work will be presented at the Centre Pasquart in Biel, Switzerland.
