Gabriel de la Mora’s practice is focused on the reuse of discarded and obsolete objects that appear to have concluded their utilitarian life. Interested in the deconstruction of an object or material over time and the memory it encapsulates, his timebased practice echoes the concept of the ready-made. Through an obsessive process of collecting and cataloguing discarded objects, such as ceilings, shoe soles, and eggshells, he reorganizes these forgotten fragments to present them in a new light. His practice lends visibility to the immaterial aura of objects, which when removed from their utilitarian narrative, juxtapose the ‘past lives’ of the object with the present, as though giving the materials the opportunity to look back and reflect on themselves.
De la Mora’s work has been exhibited institutionally at The Drawing Center, New York; the Museo Amparo, Puebla; LACMA, Los Angeles, and the Museum of Latin American Arts, Long Beach a.o.

Ištvan Išt Huzjan is an artist whose performances and sculptures create tension between opposing poles: avant-garde and neo-avant-garde, public and private, material and immaterial. The artist’s personal narrative facilitates his examination of different media, while also revealing Huzjan’s need to be on the move and explore the media’s boundaries. His performances use simple actions, such as walking, to consider the distances between people, spaces and even single steps as basic unit of locomotion. In these works as well as in his sculptures, he muses on society, historical facts, geography, and the relationships between individuals. Huzjan is a recent winner of the Grand Prize of the 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts awarded by the MGLC International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He was an artist in residence at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam and has exhibited internationally at The Modern Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (MG+MSUM), Ljubljana, Slovenia; Museum of Contemporary Art of Korea, Seoul; SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin; and the 51st Venice Biennial a.o.
