Lorenza Longhi addresses and contests the everyday as a set of standard functional rules, codes, and forms of signification. In her practice, visual elements taken from communication strategies and objects that have a specific role within our contemporaneity are reproduced and remixed together, using laborious crafty techniques as a way to complicate their primary forms, empirically test them and contradict their assumed neutrality and normality. Her works have hoarding tendencies, and react to the immediacy of power through a somehow ironic perishable minimal perfection.
For her presentation at Liste, the artist continues her investigation of typical modes and structures of institutional and corporate display, trying to push them to a point where they lose their neutral, polite functionality, revealing upon inspection an awkward, resisting presence.
