Truth and Consequences’ project for LISTE in 2018 emphasizes around the anthropological awareness we experience in the work of Pentti Monkkonen, Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings and Seyoung Yoon.
Pentti Monkkonen develop series of works referring to modernist buildings, design, pop icons, consumerist objects to explore his personal affect towards our complex social environment. Often his painting are incrusting icons of our pop culture into building façade’s structure to project our visual fantasies into a physical urban canvas.
Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings has been developing series of video pieces and drawings illustrating suspended narratives. Implanted in documental and fictional visions of postapocalyptic reminiscences, they are manifesting their reflexion on the LGBTQ community through their
methodological research on a social, historical and architectural backgrounds. Seyoung Yoon is constructing her work around ornaments as a story telling background. The narration can be directly taken from stories she wrote as a child or deployed around a plot device of a Mcguffin, a story or desired object that is not explicitly told, to reveal hidden dynamics constructed by rituals and attitudes towards environments and social identification.
Truth and Consequences’ presentation pushes the interaction between three different kinds of space: the public, the intimate and the inner space entangled. How those three spatial aspects influence each other and how are they constructed by our conflict and consent of sensorial perceptions and social habits?
