Conceptually radical choreography gets up-close and personal in the autobiographical piece ‘Cédric Andrieux’. Internationallyrenowned choreographer Jérôme Bel places professional dancer Andrieux alone on stage, where he speaks about his training as a contemporary dancer in the city of Brest (FR), and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, then as a performer in the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in NY, and recently at the Lyon Opera Ballet. His intimate storytelling is punctuated with excerpts from milestone dance works, including pieces by Cunningham and Trisha Brown. Together with the other productions of the series ‘Véronique Doisneau’ (2004), ‘Isabel Torres’ (2005), ‘Pichet Klunchun and myself’ (2005) and ‘Lutz Förster’ (2009), ‘Cédric Andrieux’ is built on the experience and savoir-faire of a performer, who has made his mark as a dancer. Clever, humorous and touching, ‘Cédric Andrieux’ offers insight into the world of a performer, who has lived the history of modern dance.
