Performance Schedule: 11 a.m. / 2 p.m. / 5 p.m.

Myriam Lefkowitz is generally interested in questions of sensuality and the possibilities for triggering alternative modes of perceiving one’s immediate surroundings. Throughout the past years she has developed very specific strategies to explore these interests, often by traveling to different locations and interacting with public spaces as well as their inhabitants. On the occasion of the 13th Performance Project in Basel, Lefkowitz will present ‘Walk, Hands, Eyes (a city)’ – a silent, site-specific one-on-one walk around Basel that unfolds unexpected perspectives on the city. ‘Walk, Hands, Eyes (a city)’ invites you to take part in an augmented perceptual experience, which takes the shape of a direct encounter between the visitors and the artist and her collaborators. Through the sharing of sensorial and kinaesthetic tools, which mainly affect the sense of touch and the use of the gaze, Lefkowitz complicates the relation between perceiving and imagining, inviting the visitors to slide into liminal states between sleep and wakefulness, which allow a different regime of attention to appear.
