Lin Olschowka lures us into a world that we might not want to enter. But then again, their familiarity reminds us that we are already in it. While the motifs chosen lose their original function when taken out of context, Lin Olschowka seems to abstract their meaning, translating it into symbolic language. This is how she selects motifs, dissects them in front of us, turns them into objects, mere representations of things—symbols that point toward their dark spots.

Lin Olschowka (b. 1995) is a Karlsruhe-based artist with a diploma in fine arts from AdBK Karlsruhe (2021). Recent exhibitions include Meyer Riegger Karlsruhe, Rosgartenmuseum Konstanz, Hamlet Zürich and Museum zu Allerheiligen Schaffhausen. Her paintings deal with the topics of replica, context and functionality of images.
