88 galleries from 35 countries: 20 of them are participating for the first time. The artistic focus has shifted: While in recent years an inward-looking perspective prevailed, this year sees a reversal towards an outward gaze. Artists utilize various mediums, including AI and computer-generated images, to present the diversity of the world from different perspectives and locations. A key emphasis is on technology- and time-based art. More than 30 galleries show contemporary art based on new media. Another focal point is the feminist perspective: How does a female perspective on the female body differ from a male one? Artists challenge representations of femininity and traditional symbols of domesticity and craftsmanship associated with women.

As of this year, Liste belongs to the Stiftung zur Förderung aktueller Kunst Basel (Foundation for the Promotion of Contemporary Art Basel). This ensures that the Liste, as a non-profit organisation, can continue its commitment and dedication to contemporary art.
As a sign of solidarity and against Russia’s inhumane invasion of Ukraine, galleries, curators and the Liste team have launched projects to support Ukrainians and the country’s art scene in particular. Liste has specially invited two Ukrainian galleries to exhibit at the fair, The Naked Room and Voloshyn, to give them the opportunity to present their artists internationally. Liste also has commissioned curator Martha Kirszenbaum, in collaboration with Oleksandra Pogrebnyak and Daria Shevtsova from PinchukArtCenter, Kyiv, to conceive a film programme within the framework of the fair that presents Ukrainian artists and filmmakers.

Liste Art Fair Basel is held for the first time in Hall 1.1 of Messe Basel. With this location, Liste is able to meet the requirements of planning in times of a pandemic. The new architecture for the hall, designed by Belgian architects OFFICE Kersten Geers David VanSeveren in collaboration with Richard Venlet, transforms the special ethos of community that Liste has stood for since its beginning into an all-connecting circular structure.
Liste Expedition is also launched as a digital research forum with a continuously growing index of artists who represent the latest positions in contemporary art.
Liste also celebrates the 25th anniversary of its main partnership with E. Gutzwiller & Cie Banquiers, Basel.
